No Brown Paper Bags Required

First day of classes today! I made a special bowl of oatmeal to celebrate and oh my goodness it was perfect. I used 1/3 cup of my Dan-D-Pak blueberry-goji berry-quick oats blend (110), 1 very ripe banana (100), 2/3 cup almond milk (30), 1/3 cup of pumpkin granola (80), a tsp of honey (30), pinch of cinnamon, and 1 tsp of almond butter (50). So many different textures and flavors in one little bowl! Tummy very very satisfied. On the side I had peach ginger black tea with a bowl of strawberries (30). Breakfast: (450)

My schedule today looks something like this

9:00 - 10:00: Bus to campus, walk to library, print today's lecture notes
10:00 - 11:00: Read over notes, start working on cases for 486R next weekend
11:00 - 12:00: Lunch time, after lunch walk
12:00 - 1:00: International Financial Markets and Institutions Class
1:00 - 2:00: Real Estate Finance Class
2:00 - 3:00: International Business Management Class
3:00 - 4:00: Snacktime! Try to hunt down some textbooks
4:00 - 6:00: Back to the library and work on cases?
6:00 - ????: Bus home, make dinner, relax!

I got to test out the toaster oven while making my lunch! I sliced up a chunk of ham (70) on an Ezekiel sprouted grain tortilla (150) and topped with two slices of swiss cheese (60), popped it in the toaster oven and oohed and aahed while watching the cheese melt with my roommate. ("It's such a cute little thing! How incredibly darling!") Then I added some avocado slices (100) and lettuce leaves.
.

I also cut up a carrot to munch on (30) along with a Luna Bar for a snack (180). Lunch including snacks: (590)

I'm off to get ready!

I survived!

I woke up half an hour earlier yesterday to fit in a 25 minute jog before getting ready for the day. I knew that I would be eating out for dinner so the extra 200 calories burned really helped!

After my run I had a breakfast cookie made with chocolate protein powder and oats (no almond butter this time) and a cup of mixed fruit. Breakfast calories (400)

I love Clif bars for class - they're very chewy and crunchy so it's great for eating in the middle of a lecture. Normal granola bars attract too much attention and there's nothing as obnoxious as that girl who's munching away on crunchy granola and carrots during a lecture. Carrot cake is my favourite flavor so far!

I also had some cucumber slices + hummus when we breaked for lunch to try to meet my daily vegetable quota. Total Lunch (300)

At around 4 o'clock my hunger pangs struck and I ate 1/4 cantaloupe w/ cream cheese. (No picture because I forgot) After I got home I also had a plum. Total snack (150)

BF came over and in an effort to be healthy, we decided to walk to dinner. It took us around half an hour walking at a brisk pace to get there. We went to Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company since they supposedly have the best pizzas in all of Vancouver.

Started with a pitcher of sangria to share between us.

These glasses were huuuuge! They were served in Russell pint-sized glasses - most calorie-tracking websites have Sangrias at 160 per class but I would definitely count this as 200 at least. It doesn't help that I ended up having about 2 of these. 400 calories in drinks alone! :( YIKES.

We ordered a large half-and-half pizza! Half was spinach chicken and the other half was spicy sausage (of course they had much fancier names than these)

The pizza was loaded with toppings and really yummy. I love Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co because they provide their nutritional information online! I ate a slice of each kind and they ended up being 160cal each for a total of 320 for both. If only I didn't drink so much Sangria dinner would've been a huge success. Good thing we walked home! Total Dinner Calories : 720

Total for the day: 400 + 300 + 150 + 720 = 1570.
Exercise for the day: -200 + -200(walking) = -400
Net Caloric Intake : 1170!

This summer has been a roller coaster of food experiments and self discovery, including a 3 month long raw foodist stint and becoming an excessive protein consuming gym rat for all of july. I'm currently trying to only eat the foods that make me feel good through trial and error. I find that this for me means lots of fruit and vegetables, lots of whole grains and carbs, sweet condiments like honey and fruit jams, moderate amounts of fish and poultry, very little dairy and absolutely no baked goods.

This morning I woke up craving sweets, I had a cup of mixed fruit with 1.5 slices of toast topped with margarine, blueberry and raspberry preserves.

My morning Americano ended up making my head spin so I wanted to eat something to counter the headache - the only thing I had with me was this Cool Mint Chocolate Chip Clif Bar. It's my least favourite Clif bar so far (tasted bitter) but definitely helped!

At approximately 11:30am, half an hour before my lunch break. This plate was unceremoniously plopped on my desk.

I wasn't hungry at this point but ate it anyway. Who can refuse a hot, steaming mini surprise pork bun?? Normally I would've just skipped lunch, but since SS and I were meeting our friend C for lunch before she leaves for Barcelona on exchange I decided to stick to something light and tasty. Beets are by far my favourite vegetable. I even managed to sneak in a hardboiled egg in my salad.

At around 3pm I started feeling hungry but didn't want to eat anything so I had a cup of black bean green tea. This stuff is amazing! It's 130 calories and has over 6g of protein and 3g of fibre.

I had wanted a big fruity salad for dinner but the commute home left me chilly so I had this big bowl of soup instead. There's a tablespoon of miso paste mixed in with 2 cups of tofu, fish balls and a few brussel sprouts, lots of seaweed with shirataki noodles. That plate hiding in the back is a piece of Angel Food cake my landlord insisted I try ... I did because I haven't had it since I was a little kid, and immediately remembered why. It's nasty and tastes like feet! Thank goodness for those brussel sprouts!
