Too much cheeese!

The last thing I wanted to do this morning was go on my run, even though there was no reason not to. It was probably one of the last dry mornings in Vancouver for the next 3 months and I had enough time, but for whatever reason, I just didn't want to. I debated between making myself go regardless or listening to myself and take the day off.

So that's what I did. I had a leisurely morning and enjoyed a carrot-raisin muffin, some overripe (thus delicious!) strawberries, and half an apple with a tsp of chocolate PB.

Mid-morning I found myself reaching for the granola I had packed for my afternoon snack. I wasn't hungry, but was definitely in a munching mood. Again, I caved! (It was about an eighth of a cup of granola)

Because of my snack, I didn't eat lunch until a little past noon as opposed to the usual 10:30-11:00 lunch. I paired the beloved hummus-cheddar-apple combo it with an Ezekiel tortilla wrap (the last one) and it was delicious as always. I have to admit that it's better as a sandwich because hummus on fluffy bread is hard to beat.

I walked to Whole Foods during lunch and tried a sample of Dubliner cheese. It was so delicious and tasted like a cross between cheddar and swiss (as well as Parmesan according to Wikipedia) and of course I bought some. Well on the way back to the office I also decided that an iced coffee sounded good, but apparently it's only available as a seasonal drink (Um ... really??) so I decided to get an iced americano with a shot of pumpkin spice syrup. I had a couple more chunks of my new cheese when I got back to the office. (A couple = 10!!!)

Then the Americano gave me a headache and I wanted to take a break from work so I broke out the tub of greek yogurt + cantaloupe + strawberries. This was ridiculously good! I think greek yogurt might be the new cottage cheese for me.

Definitely didn't have the room for a full meal when I got home. So I had a piece of sprouted grain bread drowned in almond butter. Just what I was craving ... unfortunately I nibbled my way around the kitchen for a good ten minutes trying to decide what I really wanted to eat.

Then to use up the last of the cantaloupe. A classic cantaloupe + cottage cheese bowl.

Tomorrow morning I'm heading out bright and early for a class retreat in Manning Park. The entire class (45 students) is going to stay two days and two nights in the chalet and work on cases from dusk until dawn. Of course I inquired ahead about the meal options, and apparently they will be 'usual breakfast foods' (which include toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit(!!!)), sammies + soups for lunch, and pasta + salad for dinner. I have a slight phobia of eating other people's cooking, but it's kind of hard to mess up a simple menu like that. Nevertheless, I packed some emergency Clif and Luna bars. I'm bring my camera and will hopefully have a chance to post throughout the weekend, but if not, I'll be sure to provide a full update Sunday evening!
